Qld child safety data at risk

According to ABC News, a report by the auditor-general of Qld has found that sensitive child safety data is at risk of not being kept confidential by the child safety department. It further reports that 'about $85 million has been spent on an integrated client management system over the past decade'.

School in SA reported to registration board

An Islamic school in SA has been reported to the SA non-government schools registration board, according to ABC News. It has been accused of mismanagement, and a decline in academic standards.

Teacher jailed for sexual assaults in Qld

A former teacher has been jailed 'for repeated sexual assaults on his female students as young as six in front of their classmates', according to 7News. He reportedly pleaded guilty, and has been sentenced to three years, six months jail, to be suspended after 12 months.

Anti-corruption commission hears of a 'culture of bullying and entitlement'

In Vic, the IBAC has heard that there was a culture of bullying and entitlement in the Vic Department of Education, according to ABC News. The IBAC is investigating corruption in the Department.

International students flood into NSW public schools

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that international students are being sent to NSW state schools to finish their education. 3,386 international students were studying in public schools in 2014.

School teacher dismissed after reportedly standing up to bully

A US school teacher has reportedly been dismissed after she reportedly scolded a student for bullying others. Fox8 Cleveland further reports that she plans to pursue legal action.

NZ schools restrict after parties

In NZ, a school has moved to restrict after parties following its dances. The NZ Herald says that the move has been driven by some tragic incidents involving alcohol and after parties.

Gay-straight alliances endorsed in Canada

The premier of a Canadian province has said that gay-straight alliances in schools are working, and that legislation won't affect their existence. CTV News reports that the opposition has introduced an anti-bullying bill.

Canadian schools banned from strip searching students

Also in Canada, there is a report by The Star that schools in one of its provinces will no longer be able to strip-search students. This follows an incident in which a 15-year-old female student was reportedly strip searched.

US high school student accused of 'sextortion'

A US high school student has been accused of 'sextortion' after allegations that he threatened to release partially-nude photos of a fellow student. KHOU.com reports that although charges have been filed and dismissed against the person, there is an ongoing investigation.
