According to Yahoo7 News, the penalties were stopped by the principal after a complaint from a parent.

WA Education Department accused of putting students' lives at risk

The WA Education department has been accused of putting students' lives at risk for repairing a school's roof instead of replacing it. ABC News reports that these accusations follow an incident in which part of a ceiling collapsed on a five-year-old boy, who has to be hospitalised.

Growth in Islamic school enrolments in Vic

The growth of families settling into Vic has spurred growth in Islamic schools. The Age reports that families are choosing Islamic non-government schools because they want to 'honour their culture and beliefs'.

A Florida, US, mother has been charged with child abuse after sending her daughter to school with a t-shirt saying she should back off before getting 'another good woopin' (sic). The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the child was badly bruised when she was sent to school.

UK MPs call for better sex education

The Age reports that, in the face of increasing modern communication and social media, British MPs are calling for 'modern' sex education in schools. The Age reports that in the UK, only basic sex education is provided under the current curriculum.
