Crimes rates in Vic schools reported to be falling

The Herald Sun reports that in Vic, crime rates in schools are falling due to enhanced security measures. It cites technology such as security cameras and the use of security firms, as factors in this success.

WA reported critical incidents include students using and dealing drugs

The West Australian reports on a list of critical incidents reported to the WA Department of Education. Among these are incidents involving a student being set on fire, students using and dealing drugs, and a young student being left on a bus.

Private school enrolments in SA soar 

PerthNow reports that in SA, enrolments in private schools are growing at three times the rate of public schools. The statistics have ignited debate about the funding of private schools.

Rise in sexual assaults in Vic schools

Data recently released in Vic shows that reported sexual assaults in schools and universities have soared, according to The Age. Allegations of sexual assaults in all schools are legally required to be reported to the Department of Education.

A teacher in the US has been suspended following video footage of him adding the caption 'Stephen's ugly a#$' to a cartoon. Stephen was a student in his class, who had special needs. Yahoo News reports that the incident is being investigated.

NZ court finds principal's dismissal unfair

A court in NZ has found that a principal was unfairly dismissed, after he was accused of misleading the school board by fabricating data.Stuff.co.nz reports that he was granted compensation of a year's salary and $16,500.

Students provided with Fifty Shades of Grey themed puzzles

In the US, there have been complaints by parents after students were apparently given Fifty Shades of Grey themed puzzles. ABC News reports that these were word search puzzles with themed words.

NZ family claims school failed autistic son

A NZ family has accused a private school of failing their autistic son, and claim that special funding provided has not been accounted for.Stuff.co.nz reports that more than $4,000 was provided to the school under an agreed plan.
