A program by the Safe Schools Coalition Victoria, to combat homophobia, has been launched. According to the Herald Sun, the program was trialled in a pilot phase, and the new Premier has pledged to roll it out across the State.

Warnings of a drug crisis in NSW schools

The Daily Telegraph reports on newly reported statistics on suspensions in NSW schools, with principals calling the the issue a 'crisis'. There were 790 long suspensions for drug related offences in 2013 - the highest number in almost a decade.

Year 9 students in NSW subject to lewd sex education classes

A 'full investigation' has been ordered by the NSW Education Minister after year 9 students were asked to take part in a lewd sex survey, and to make lewd mock dating profiles. According to the Daily Telegraph, the school was given freedom to source the teaching materials, which were part of PDHPE classes.

WA has the highest student-to-teacher ratios

ABC News reports that student-to-teacher ratios are highest in WA. The Productivity Commission made the findings in an education report.

NZ parents not obliged to tell schools of HIV

In NZ, it has been revealed that parents are under no obligation to tell their child's school that their child has HIV, according to the NZ Herald. This follows an incident in which a father has not told his child, or his child's school, about his child's HIV.

US mother allegedly threatens to blow up school

A US mother has been arrested after allegedly threatening to blow up a school after her daughter failed an exam, according to Time. The daughter sat a major state-wide test.

In the US, a source reported by WBUR has published vaccination rates for various states. This follows an outbreak of measles at a Disneyland in the US.

Student leaves school after allegedly being asked to hide his homosexuality

According to the Daily Mail, a US student says he has been forced to leave a private school after his school gave him an ultimatum to hide his homosexuality. The student has a youtube video in which he can be seen with his partner.

Canadian province says it won't ban unvaccinated students

The state of Ontario has said that it will not ban students who are unvaccinated, after a report of students contracting measles. CTV News reports that vaccinations are mandatory for school, but exemptions can be granted.
