Tas teacher, thought to be dead, found in NZ

A teacher who was thought to be dead has been tracked down in New Zealand by the Australian Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse, according to the Dominion Post. The teacher was reportedly subject to allegations of child sexual abuse, currently being heard before the Royal Commission in Tas.

NSW schools to report on improving educational standards

From next year, schools in NSW will be subject to requirements to state how they will lift their education standards, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. Schools will have to report on improving literacy and numeracy and HSC results.

National curriculum changes referred to ACARA

According to Yahoo News, changes to the Australian National Curriculum have been referred by the Education Ministers' Council to the  Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). This follows a meeting of the Education Ministers' Council.

A Canadian teacher is facing an investigation, and has been sent on leave after allegedly posting racist comments about aboriginal people. CTV reports on the comments.

School board establishes bus threats procedure

Following an incident in which a bus driver was threatened with a cap gun, a Canadian school board is establishing a procedure for dealing with threats on buses. According to CBC news, the protocol will deal with matters such as notifying police.
