8 in 10 Vic principals concerned about workload

An Australian Education Union survey has found that 8 in 10 Vic principals rank workload as a main concern. The survey, reported in the Herald Sun, also stated that more than half of respondents complained about stress and a lack of consultation by the Department of Education.

17-year-old Qld student expelled for alleged stalking

A 17-year-old student in Qld has been expelled from a high school after being charged with stalking, distributing child pornography, and other offences, according to the Courier Mail. The boy, who cannot be identified, has been granted bail. He was alleged to be stalking younger students at the school.

A 14-year-old WA boy has received a juvenile caution from police, and has been suspended for the remainder of the term after slipping a laxative into a teacher's drink. PerthNow reports that the school immediately suspended the student and referred the matter to police at the time.

Vic launches online marketplace for school uniforms

An initiative for an online marketplace to buy and sell school uniforms, backed by the Vic Department of Education, has launched in that state. The Herald Sun reports that a not-fot-profit organisation is behind the initiative, called Clk2Sell.

French couple take vaccination case to highest court

A French couple who have refused vaccinations for their child, have taken the case to France's highest legal authority, the cour de cassation. According to the Guardian, the case will examine the constitutional issues of the decision. Although some vaccinations are compulsory in France, the parents take issue with the compulsory vaccinations only being offered in combination with non-compulsory vaccinations.

US school instructs teachers not to use gendered language

News.com.au has reported on a Nebraska, US school that has instructed its teachers to use gender-neutral language. The guidelines discourage the use of expressions such as 'boys and girls' and instead advocates for phrases such as 'hey campers'.

A young Singaporean has taken to Facebook to ridicule her conservative sex education classes, which, according to news.com.au, she accuses of promoting 'rape culture' and negative stereotypes for men and women.
