Vic primary school teacher tattooed boy's name on her chest

A court has heard that a Vic primary school teacher who was convicted of committing an indecent act on a 10 year-old boy has had his name tattooed on her chest. According to 9News, the Judge remarked that he was 'bewildered by [her] psycho-sexual profile and her motive'.

WA privatises public school building process

The WA Government has put the financing, design and building of eight new public schools out to tender, in a public private partnership scheme. The West Australian reports that this is the first time this has happened in WA.

Vic school builds largest solar panel installation

Mazenod College in Vic has announced that it will build Australia's largest college rooftop solar panel array. The Australian states that the school expects financial benefits from this, as well as social and environmental benefits.

Religious group posts video with unauthorised footage of primary school children

According to the Newcastle Herald, a scripture group has used unauthorised footage taken of students at a primary school in a video that disparaged those school students for lacking religion. The Department of Education has intervened and the video has apparently been taken down.

ACT set to accept School Chaplains program

The ACT has indicated that it will accept the Federal Government's school chaplaincy program on limited terms. According to ABC News, however, the Federal Government may not accept this proposition. The ACT has stated that it wanted to participate to ensure non-government schools were not disadvantaged.

UK school adopts gender-neutral bathrooms to combat transphobia

A primary school in the UK has adopted gender-neutral bathrooms, in an attempt to combat transphobia. According to the Telegraph, this has caused consternation amongst parents, some of whom have stated that their children feel 'uncomfortable' about this.

Canadian student dies on work experience

In Canada, a year 12 student has died whilst on a work placement at a car recycling plant. The Toronto Star also reports that under local laws, students on work placement are not covered by work health and safety laws.

UK school uses bikini photos of student at assembly

A UK school has used photos of students in bikinis, taken from their Facebook pages, to illustrate the dangers of social media, in a move that has humiliated the students. News.com.au has stated that this happened during an assembly. The head teacher has apologised over the incident.

Russia cancels exchange program with US over gay student

Russia has cancelled an exchange program with the United States that has been in operation since 1992 over an incident where a gay exchange student claimed asylum whilst in the US. The Guardian reports that two men have became the legal guardians of the student.

UK teacher banned for five years over inappropriate relationship and texts 

A UK teacher has been banned for five years after he told a student he wanted 'good sex in lots of different positions'. According to the Mirror, the student stated that she had been in a relationship with the male teacher about a year after she left school.
