A high school student in the US state of Georgia has been suspended for one year for hugging a teacher, according to CBS News.

The school found the 17-year-old student violated the school's rules on sexual harassment after a surveillance camera showed him place his arms around the back and front of the teacher and tuck his head behind her neck.

The teacher alleged the student's cheeks and lips touched the back of her neck and cheek. But the student denies he kissed the teacher.

"Something so innocent can be perceived as something totally opposite," the student said, claiming he regularly hugged his teachers.
