The body coordinating the Catholic Church's response to the Federal Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is seeking a compensation scheme for victims, according the ABC.

The Truth Justice and Healing Council plans to ask all the state and territory attorneys-general to develop a national compensation scheme for abuse victims that will be funded by the Church.

"We don't need to wait the four or five years of the Royal Commission for governments to put their heads together to design a national scheme,'' the Council's CEO Francis Sullivan told the ABC's AM radio program.

"The scheme shouldn't have any caps to payment. The scheme should have uniform investigative powers. And whilst they're at it, the attorneys-general should be looking at how we can implement across Australia national police reporting requirements,'' he said.
