SA Government to Implement Recommendations From Abuse Inquiry

1/10/13

The South Australian Government announced it will implement all 14 recommendations of a review from the Independent Education Inquiry headed by former Supreme Court Justice Bruce Debelle.

“Mr Debelle’s report highlighted failings in the systems and practices of the Department of Education and Child Development,” said Education and Child Development Minister Jennifer Rankine in a media release.

“From there we needed to do everything possible to make sure this did not happen again and that is why we asked Mr Allen to look into the operations and culture of the Department.”

The inquiry recommended the Department adopt guidelines to assist the management of allegations of sexual misconduct at schools.

The 14 recommendations can be found here.
