Abu Dhabi Bans Suspensions Over Late School Fees

22/10/13

School FeesThe Gulf Emirate of Abu Dhabi has banned private schools from suspending students over late school fee payments. “The student shall not be dismissed from school because of delay in payment of school and tuition fees and installments,” said guidelines set by the Abu Dhabi Education Council. Private schools may only “temporarily suspend” students after issuing three warnings to their parents about overdue fees.

“The school may also withhold the student’s results and refrain from delivering transfer certificates until a settlement of installment is reached,” said the guidelines, which were reported in Emirates 24/7. Schools also cannot stop students from sitting final exams over unpaid school fees.
