Study finds standing desks healthier for students

According to the Courier Mail, a study has found that 'students who have lessons standing instead of sitting behind desks are significantly healthier than their peers, concentrate better and have fewer behaviour problems'. The study included a program designed to incorporate physical activity in the classroom.

Qld teenagers allegedly vandalise school and set fire to office

It is alleged that two teenagers vandalised a Qld school, splashing rooms with paint, breaking windows and setting fire to an office. The Brisbane Timesreports that an on-site security officer called firefighters to extinguish the fire.

Drinking fountain connected to recycled water at Vic school

In Vic, a school's drinking fountain was reportedly connected to recycled water. According to The Age, the drinking supply was inadvertently connected to 'Grade A' recycled water that is used on crops and plants.

Anti-radicalisation program developed

A Canadian student has filed a human rights complaint about the use of medical marijuana in school, according to CBC News. The student was apparently not allowed to use marijuana on school property, despite his rare bone condition.

UK mother prosecuted for homophobic abuse

ITV News reports that a UK mother has been prosecuted for writing homophobic abuse in her son's passbook. She was ordered to do '150 hours’ unpaid work, pay £100 compensation to the victim and £85 costs.'

US teacher allegedly distributed anti-muslim literature

A US teacher who allegedly distributed anti-muslim literature in his high school class is reportedly facing disciplinary action, according to Yahoo News. The handouts apparently contained unreferenced statistics.

German student attempts to use FOI to see exam papers in advance

A German student has apparently used a freedom of information request to attempt to gain access to exam papers before he was due to sit the exam. The Guardian however, reports that the student has little chances of success.
