The Federal Government has signalled plans to introduce new measures to combat cyber-bullying, according to the Hobart Mercury.
"The Government is considering a number of cyber safety initiatives and we view online safety as a very serious issue, especially when it comes to protecting children," a spokesperson for Justice Minister Michael Keenan told the paper.
"We have undertaken to explore a number of cyber safety initiatives, including considering whether a new, simplified offence for cyber-bullying is required; creating an effective complaints system, backed by legislation, to get harmful material down fast from large social media sites; and appointing a Children's eSafety Commissioner who would oversee policy in this space," the spokesperson said.
