School Welcomes Party Invites - But Only if Entire Class is Invited

19/10/13

PartiesThe headmaster of a school in Bath, England has instructed parents to ensure their children do not handout birthday party invites at school – unless they invite their entire class.

“Please could you avoid bringing any party invitations into school that do not include all children in a particular class or year group,’’ said the headmaster of the Kingswood Preparatory School Mark Brearey in a letter to parents. ”This goes completely against our policy of inclusion for every single child and is divisive and unkind,” he said.

According to the Telegraph newspaper, some parents complained the request could raise the cost of hosting birthday parties. But other parents pointed out the rule only applied if birthday invites were handed out at school.
